2 days of Theremin activities for people of all ages and abilities. Music merriment, learning, and sharing.
A unique opportunity for people of all ages and musical abilities to experience the theremin, a unique instrument played without touching. It was invented by Russian scientist and engineer Leon Theremin in 1919, making it one of the oldest electronic musical instruments in the world.
Participants can meet other players and find out more about this remarkable instrument, which requires no physical contact to play!

A chance for children to have a go at playing the theremin with Theremin players from around the UK and Lydia Kavina, one of the world’s top players
11:30 till 13:00 Absolute beginners £10
Have you never played a Theremin? Here’s your chance. Lydia and other players will show you how to tune and play a variety of Theremin Models. It will be a hands-on experience with a hands-off instrument!
14:00 to 17:00 Playing together and sharing
A chance for players to work together, chat, and learn, the session will gradually move to Lydia Kavina leading a group of players to perform an Ensemble piece.
19:00 till 21:30 Concert featuring Lydia Kavina, Peter Challoner, and a host of other players, including an ensemble piece with at least 6 Theremins playing together.

Sunday 21/09/2025 Social event: A walk at Highfields Park, Nottingham, a beautiful lakeside walk. There are 2 cafes on site and an art gallery with plenty to see and do. It's right next to a Tram Stop from Nottingham city centre
